Why are we doing this drive?

Thirst Project Sugarland is working to Alleviate the water crisis around the world. Every day, people afflicted by the water crisis often cannot get an education and have to walk 3.75 miles just to get a sip of water. They have to walk the length of 66 football fields for just for one day. Over the course of 7 days, these people have to walk for more than 27 miles, a length that is more than a marathon for a resource that is essential for living. The water crisis is obviously a very large issue and it may seem hard for people to realize that they can make a change- even on a small level. This organization has provided you with the opportunity to help out those without water. After getting inspiration from Salvation Army and Goodwill who collect items to resell for good causes, we have taken the initiative to collect shoes and books that will later be sold/donated. The collected shoes will be donated to Angelbins. Angelbins will then donate the shoes to small businesses in third world countries in continents such as Africa and South America. There these shoes will be upcycled and repaired by micro entrepreneurs who will now have a means to support their families and escape the poverty cycle. Books will be sold to Ebay and Half-Price Books. All money raised from this fundraiser will be put towards building a water well. In order to raise $1000, we need to collect 2500 shoes. Our current goals will be to collect 500 books and 1500 shoes in total. Please help us reach this goal by signing up. The link is provided above.
